The website Supermoney.com has included Michigan Tech on its list of the top 50 colleges with the highest return on investment (ROI). Tech was ranked #49 on the list of "Top Colleges with the Highest ROI (without financial aid).
Supermoney used the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System—an annual survey conducted by the US Department of Education—and salary data from the website PayScale.
Supermoney considers the median income for the 20 years after graduating and compares it to the median 24-year income for high school graduates. The study looked at the on-campus cost of attending college and does not include financial aid that most colleges offer students.
According to Supermoney, Michigan Tech's 20-year ROI is $649,000, tied with the New Jersey Institute of Technology at #49. Michigan Tech's ranking was tops among Michigan's public colleges and universities.
